Chinese Food Discourse Community

Discourse community is a group of people who share ways to claim, organize, communicate and evaluate meanings. Certainly, Chinese food culture has its own discourse community. To some extent, all Chinese people belong to this discourse community. But I also find two online discourse communities about Chinese food and Chinese food culture in Reddit and Youtube. I think most members in these two discourse community are ethnic Chinese and overseas Chinese like Chinese Americans. It also includes many other people like overseas students and foreigners who are interested in Chinese food. There are also chefs who can cook Chinese food to share their cooking experiences and methods. In general, this community has all kinds of people, different races from all over the world, and their jobs include students, office workers, chefs, even housewives and food bloggers. The age range is from teenagers in their 20s to seniors in their 60s. It is because food is the eternal theme of human beings, ev

Chinese food is one of the most popular dishes in the world. In almost every major city in every country, you will find a Chinatown. I would like to introduce Chinese culture in t wo  respective ways, language  and  food .  First, let’s talk about the language. The common language in China is Mandarin. But in some areas, they speak in tongues, such as Cantonese.  Here is a link that can tell you the difference between Mandarin and Cantonese. https://www.lingualinx.com/blog/cantonese-vs-mandarin-in-china .  I n fact, what many people do not know is that the written characters can be different in Chinese. Chinese characters are written in two ways, one is simplified, which is the way most Chinese people write today. The other is traditional Chinese, which is still used only

Hi, I am Yiqing Zhao and you are welcome to call me Angelina! I am now in the second year of UC Davis. Although I am a sophomore, my major is still undecided. But I already know about which major to choose. I would like to choose double majors for statistics with data science and design.   Let’s talk about my hobbies! I have many hobbies like swimming, drawing and so on. But when talking about my favorite one, it definitely should be traveling. I think traveling has had a great impact on my life. The various cultures make me understand the world a lot more deeply. Traveling not only lets me see splendid sceneries that  I will never forget, but also provides me opportunities to meet different people and listen to their interesting and unique stories. Here are two pictures that I took during my journey of Cancun. The two places surprised me because I had never seen anything like these. I often look at websites that recommend travel destinations. For example, the link I attached below h
